Sonia Brown

Parliamentarian

Sonia Brown has over 30 years of teaching experience.  She earned a Master of Education degree from Harding University (Searcy Arkansas) and a Specialist degree from Cumberland University (Lebanon, Tennessee).  Sonia taught at Snowden Middle School for 22 years before taking a position at Wooddale High  where she teaches Government.  She thoroughly enjoys her many roles at Wooddale and is committed to working hard to insure the education of children in Memphis continues to improve and be strong.  She feels that all children can learn and all children must attend school.

Derry Phillips

Sergeant at Arms

Derry Phillips is a native Memphian and a proud graduate of Whitehaven High School Class of 2002, where he currently teaches English. He began his professional career in 2009, leading various student support initiatives.  Mr. Phillips holds degrees from Prairie View A&M University (Texas), Freed-Hardeman University, and Ole Miss, where he is currently in a Ph.D. program. Above all, Derry is an advocate for children and professionally committed to our students in Shelby County Schools.
