Our Mission
The Memphis-Shelby County Education Association, as the collective voice of its members, promotes, advances and protects quality education, the rights and interests of members, learning for all children, and the education profession.
Who We Represent
M-SCEA is the professional organization representing teachers, mental health employees, education support professionals (ESPs), and other educators in the Shelby County Schools — over 3,000 members strong and one of the largest educator organizations in the state of Tennessee.
Member Governance
M-SCEA is an Association governed by its members. The highest governing body is the Representative Assembly — all building-level Association Representatives elected by their school faculties. The Board of Directors and UniServ Directors work daily to improve and protect the education profession.
Historic Achievement
M-SCEA proudly announced the signing of the 2023–2027 Memorandum of Understanding, which restored columns and lanes to the teacher salary schedule, eliminated unsustainable teacher bonuses, and returned all educators to an equitable, uncapped salary schedule.
Meet the M-SCEA President
Charlotte Fields
President, Memphis-Shelby County Education Association
With over 25 years of experience in education, Charlotte Fields has dedicated her career to shaping young minds and advocating tirelessly for teachers, students, and the future of public education. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Memphis and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Freed-Hardeman University.
Throughout her leadership journey with M-SCEA, she has served as a member of the PECCA Bargaining Committee, former Chairperson of the MSCEA PACE Council, and Treasurer of M-SCEA.

Association Representatives
Association Representatives (ARs) are elected by their school faculties and serve as the direct link between M-SCEA and its members at each building. The Representative Assembly — made up of all ARs — is the highest governing body of the Association.
